Kibbutz Dorot

Founded during Hanukkah in 1941 by German refugees, Kibbutz Dorot is a lush testament to "Generations" of perseverance, where pioneering agriculture and the vast Pioneer Women’s Forest bloom from the rugged Negev sands. While the community was forced to evacuate in the wake of the October 7 attacks, the residents’ defiant return to their fields and groves invites a new chapter of partnership to ensure this historic sanctuary continues to thrive for generations to come.

Generations of Growth

Cultivating Resilience from the Desert Sands to the Global Market

Established during Hanukkah in 1941 by refugees fleeing Nazi Germany, Kibbutz Dorot is a living tribute to the "Generations" (Dorot) of pioneers who transformed the arid Negev into a lush agricultural marvel. Over the decades, it has evolved from a vulnerable frontier outpost into a regional powerhouse, world-renowned for its innovative garlic and herb production and its sprawling Pioneer Women’s Forest. More than just a farm, Dorot serves as a vital cultural and economic anchor for the Sha'ar HaNegev region, proving that with collective labor and deep-rooted passion, the desert can truly bloom.

The events of October 7, 2023, brought a sudden, painful silence to this vibrant community as the threat of infiltration forced a historic total evacuation. While the kibbutz was spared the heavy physical destruction seen in neighboring villages, the trauma of displacement and the loss of friends across the region left deep scars on the nearly 900 residents. Today, the people of Dorot are returning with a renewed sense of purpose, working tirelessly to restore their fields and ensure their pioneering legacy endures. Your partnership and support will directly aid in rehabilitating community spaces and securing the future of this historic sanctuary for the next generation.
