Kibbutz Kfar Aza
Reestablished in 1957 by a dedicated core of pioneers, Kfar Aza is a lush, vibrant "Gaza Village" where over 700 residents built a tight-knit community known for its innovation, educational excellence, and deep connection to the Sha'ar HaNegev soil. The horrific massacre of October 7 saw the village endure one of the most brutal assaults in modern history, with over a hundred lives lost and many taken hostage; today, your partnership is a vital act of solidarity to help the survivors of Kfar Aza heal their broken sanctuary and ensure that this historic kibbutz rises from the ruins to bloom once more.
A Sanctuary Reborn
From the Sands of Tangier to the Heart of the Negev
Kfar Aza has always been a symbol of persistence. Originally founded by refugees from Egypt and Morocco, the kibbutz was built on the values of shared labor and mutual support. For decades, it was a place of beauty and tranquility, where generations of families grew up alongside a community-run school and a central synagogue. It became an agricultural powerhouse in the region, known for its high quality of life and its role as a cultural anchor for the surrounding border villages.
The morning of October 7, 2023, left an indelible mark on Kfar Aza. Infiltrated by dozens of militants from four directions, the kibbutz became the site of a prolonged and devastating battle. The "Young Generation" neighborhood and the family quarters were systematically attacked, leading to a loss of life that has touched every single family in the community. Today, Kfar Aza stands as a testament to the cost of the frontier, but also to the unbreakable will of its people. As they begin the monumental task of rebuilding their homes and infrastructure, they are looking for "twin" communities to walk beside them. By partnering with Kfar Aza, you are supporting the immediate needs of the displaced families, funding the restoration of their school, and providing the long-term trauma resources required to rebuild the soul of this iconic village.

Twinned with the Young Israel of Woodmere
Fueled by the generous support of the New York-based Young Israel of Woodmere and the coordination of the Sha'ar Nagev Regional Council, Magen 48 delivered crucial first response and civil defense training. This intensive program fundamentally empowered the resilient citizens of Kfar Aza to protect their community against any future threat. Today, Kfar Aza stands not just rebuilt, but reborn—vigilant and prepared to defend its peaceful way of life.
