From the Coast of Gaza to the Heart of the Negev, a Community Built on Resilience

Rising from the dunes of the Halutza region near the Egyptian border, Bnei Netzarim is a moshav that embodies the spirit of renewal and persistence. Founded in 2010 by families who were evacuated from the Gaza Strip during the 2005 disengagement—specifically the community of Netzarim—the village represents a deliberate choice to remain on Israel’s frontier. Today, it is a thriving agricultural hub where green fields of high-tech farming contrast sharply with the golden Negev sands, housing over a thousand residents who have transformed a remote patch of desert into a vibrant, family-centric community under the Eshkol Regional Council.​

During the devastating events of October 7, 2023, Bnei Netzarim found itself on the front lines of the national crisis, though it was spared the wholesale infiltration seen in many neighboring kibbutzim. The moshav’s local security response team (Katzat) was immediately mobilized, providing a critical shield for the Halutza area as they defended the perimeter against potential threats and served as a staging ground for military operations. In the aftermath, the town has become a symbol of "civilian grit," with residents remaining committed to their land and agriculture despite the proximity to the border, reinforcing the moshav's role as a vital anchor of Israeli sovereignty in the deep south.
