From Gush Katif to the Egyptian Frontier: A Journey of Reconstruction

Naveh is a religious moshav that serves as a profound symbol of rebirth, established in 2008 by former residents of Bnei Atzmon following the Israeli disengagement from Gaza. Tucked away in the south-central Halutza region near the Egyptian border, the community is defined by its deep spiritual connection to the Land of Israel, with many residents following the conservative, Torah-centric teachings of Rabbi Zvi Thau. Despite the harsh desert climate, the village has blossomed into a thriving center of communal life and agriculture, proving that a dedicated pioneer spirit can turn barren dunes into a vibrant home.​

The tranquility of this border enclave was shattered on October 7, 2023, when the region became a primary target during the Hamas-led attacks on Southern Israel. While the community faced the immediate terror of infiltration attempts and heavy rocket fire, the residents of Naveh demonstrated remarkable fortitude, transitioning from a civilian agricultural village to a fortified defensive position practically overnight. Today, the town stands not just as a religious settlement, but as a crucial pillar of the Eshkol Regional Council, embodying a quiet but fierce determination to remain rooted in the soil despite the ongoing challenges of life on the edge.
