Moshav Ein HaBshor

Tracing its lineage from an ancient Egyptian trade post to a modern agricultural pioneer founded by Sinai evacuees, Ein HaBesor is a sun-drenched moshav in the Hevel Eshkol region that stands as a guardian of the Negev’s fertile edge. On October 7, the community’s small civil defense team performed a near-miraculous stand to repel a massive infiltration, and today, your support helps these brave families fortify their sanctuary and ensure this historic gateway remains a flourishing symbol of Israeli resolve.

A Gateway Through Time

From Ancient Trade Routes to Modern Resilience

Located at the "Spring of the Besor," this moshav sits on ground that has hosted travelers since the Egyptian First Dynasty, serving as a vital staging post along the ancient "Ways of Horus" trade route. The modern community was reborn in 1982, settled by families who left their homes in the Sinai to cultivate the northwestern Negev desert and build a life rooted in cooperation and agriculture. Today, it is a bustling village of over 1,300 residents who have turned the arid landscape into one of Israel's most productive farming hubs, bridging a 5,000-year history of settlement with 21st-century innovation.

On October 7, 2023, Ein HaBesor faced its most existential threat when dozens of Hamas militants targeted the moshav. In a display of extraordinary courage, the local civil defense squad—armed with only four M16 rifles—engaged the attackers at the front gates, successfully repelling the assault and preventing a massacre within the residential area. While the moshav was saved from the devastation seen in neighboring kibbutzim, the psychological toll on its children and the strain on its security resources have been immense. Supporting Ein HaBesor today means investing in the equipment and healing programs necessary to keep this heroic community safe as they continue to guard the southern frontier.
