Originally known as Yesodot HaDarom (Foundations of the South), this moshav was renamed to honor Avraham Herzfeld, a tireless advocate for Israeli agriculture and settlement. Situated in the Hevel Shalom region near the Gaza border, Sdei Avraham is home to roughly 440 residents who have built a life centered on communal values and the specialized farming of the Negev. It is a place where the history of the land meets the modern resilience of the families who guard Israel's southwestern gate.​

While the community was founded on the ideals of growth and peace, the events of October 7, 2023, brought an unprecedented trial to its doorstep, shattering the quiet of the fields with rocket fire and the immediate threat of infiltration. Today, the families of Sdei Avraham are working to reclaim their routine, facing the immense challenge of rebuilding their local economy while ensuring the safety of their children. Twinning with or donating to Sdei Avraham provides the essential support needed for community resilience projects, trauma centers, and the revitalization of the agricultural heritage that defines this historic "Foundation of the South."
