Moshav Kfar Maimon
Founded in 1959 by Bnei Akiva pioneers and named for a signatory of Israel’s Declaration of Independence, Kfar Maimon is a vibrant religious moshav that blends agricultural tradition with high-level bilingual education on its 5,000 dunams of fertile southern soil. Since the devastating events of October 7, this historic community—once a central gathering point for national movements—has transformed into a vital hub of resilience and refuge for the Sdot Negev region; your partnership today helps sustain their unique French-Hebrew educational mission and fortifies the spirit of a village that remains a cornerstone of faith and growth in the northwestern Negev.
A Sanctuary of Faith and Learning
Roots in the Soil, Eyes on the Future
Kfar Maimon—"Maimon Village"—is more than just a farming community; it is a center of religious idealism and cultural bridge-building. Named after Rabbi Yehuda Leib Maimon, Israel's first Minister of Religions, the moshav is famous for its "Lycée Thorani," a bilingual high school that serves as a unique educational home for both French-speaking immigrants and local students. Historically known as the site of a massive, non-violent standoff during the 2005 Gaza disengagement, the village has a long-standing reputation as a crossroads for the diverse voices of the Israeli public.
Following the shocks of October 7, 2023, Kfar Maimon has faced the dual challenge of ensuring the safety of its 900 residents while continuing to provide a stable, Torah-based environment for its students under the constant threat of rocket fire. Located just kilometers from the border, the community has become a pillar of strength for the Sdot Negev Regional Council, maintaining its agricultural production and educational excellence despite the regional instability. By twinning with or donating to Kfar Maimon, you are directly investing in the future of religious-Zionist education and helping a historic village protect its families as they continue to cultivate the "Foundations of the South."
