Moshav Tkuma
Born from the ashes of the Holocaust as one of the historic "11 points in the Negev," Moshav Tkuma is a religious sanctuary whose name—meaning "Resurrection"—serves as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of survivors from Eastern Europe and Tunisia. Following the profound darkness of October 7, the community has become the solemn guardian of the "Car Wall" memorial, where a towering stack of burnt vehicles from the Re'im music festival stands as a silent plea for global partnership to help this resilient village rebuild and continue its 75-year legacy of life and renewal.
The Spirit of Resurrection
From the Ashes of 1946 to the Frontier of Today
Established in the dead of night between October 5 and 6, 1946, Tkuma was a strategic "Resurrection" point for the Jewish people, founded by Holocaust survivors determined to make the Negev bloom. Today, this religious moshav of over 800 residents is a vibrant hub of agricultural life and faith, maintaining its historic roots while serving as a cornerstone of the Sdot Negev Regional Council. Its journey from a makeshift kibbutz to a thriving community is a quintessential story of Israeli perseverance.
The tragedy of October 7, 2023, added a somber new chapter to Tkuma's history; though the moshav was protected from a ground breach, it was chosen as the site for the "Car Wall"—a staggering memorial of over 1,500 charred cars recovered from the Nova Music Festival and surrounding kibbutzim. This wall has turned Tkuma into a site of pilgrimage and mourning, placing an immense emotional and security burden on the quiet village. Partnering with Tkuma today means supporting a community that literally guards the memory of the fallen, providing the resources needed for community healing, security infrastructure, and the continued "resurrection" of a town that has outlasted every shadow cast upon it.
