Moshav Zru'a
Established in 1953 by Moroccan pioneers, Moshav Zru’a is a peaceful religious enclave whose name—meaning "Sown"—honors the biblical promise of finding divine love and growth in a land once uncultivated. Though the community stood as a resilient shield during the dark hours of October 7, preventing a ground breach while many residents sought safety in Netivot, the ongoing rocket fire and regional instability have disrupted their agricultural life; your partnership today provides the vital support needed for community trauma programs and security upgrades to ensure this "Sown" land continues to flourish.
Affection in the Wilderness
From the Ashes of 1946 to the Frontier of Today
Established in the dead of night between October 5 and 6, 1946, Tkuma was a strategic "Resurrection" point for the Jewish people, founded by Holocaust survivors determined to make the Negev bloom. Today, this religious moshav of over 800 residents is a vibrant hub of agricultural life and faith, maintaining its historic roots while serving as a cornerstone of the Sdot Negev Regional Council. Its journey from a makeshift kibbutz to a thriving community is a quintessential story of Israeli perseverance.
On October 7, 2023, the quiet faith of Zru’a was tested as sirens wailed and the sounds of battle from nearby Netivot and the Gaza border echoed through its streets. While the moshav's local security team was able to maintain its perimeter and prevent an infiltration, the residents endured hours of harrowing uncertainty, with many families ultimately seeking temporary refuge elsewhere as the region became a closed military zone. Twinning with or donating to Zru’a is a gesture of solidarity with a community that has spent seventy years sowing life in the desert, providing the resources for psychological healing and the restoration of a peaceful agricultural routine.
